I kind of wish they would abandon any pretense of continuity altogether and just make one off movies based on new original stories using the characters that makes the story easer to tell.
Not me. Two of the last three (First Class, DoFP) have been the best of the series.

i meant any form. so the only thing you find true enjoyment out of is movie scores? not actual music, or tv, or paintings, or books?

that sounds pretty bland to me

I enjoy these things more from an intellectual perspective.

Not really. I always found that to be somewhat gay to be honest. The most I am affected by art would be through music (scores) I guess.

I just don't understand how someone can not watch this scene from Schindler's List and not just about break down in tears. Schindler has made it through it all, has the appreciation from his workers for saving their lives, and then tells his accountant that he could have saved more people. He starts off with ten, then goes down to two people, and finally tries to make himself settle that he could have saved one more person, and then he breaks down completely feeling as if he was responsible for the death of a single individual. Just watched that clip, and have to say my eyes are certainly watering. I just don't understand how you can watch that clip and not get teary eyed.

Curious. Could you expand on this concept, with examples please.

Thank you in advance.

I enjoy stories/movies more from what I can learn from them about human nature, about life lessons, about story structure and character development itself.

I watch the Matrix from a character/philosophical perspective for instance.

When I watch the Nolan Trilogy I concern myself with character motivations and plot structure, as another example. That's why I have a love/hate view of Nolan's Batman. Batman Begins is an exceptional take on the character of Batman, but the plot issues take away from that after Rachel dies.

I can't explain specifically why I don't get emotional watching movies. I guess I'm just detached.

I agree with this. My favorite of all of them was First Class. Which is kind of what I want to happen going forward. I was never really that excited about bringing back the old cast members and tying the new universe to the old one.

Finally saw it, really enjoyed it. That Back to the Future gif is perfect. Good to have Jean and Scott back.

Can't wait for Apocalypse. Loved the Age of Apocalypse storyline in comics.

Why the frick did they put Quicksilver in this movie if he's also gonna be in the Avengers movies going forward?

Saw this today. Have to disagree with the reviews. I'd put it behind First Class and X2. It was ok but not enough action.

Question about Kitty Pryde, what exactly are her powers? I thought she could just walk through solid objects. When did she get this mind transferal power?

Also what are Bishop and Cable's powers? Are they both involved in the Apocalypse story? I always get them confused.

What is Apocalypse? I remember him being a robot looking thing in the cartoon now its a woman?

Quicksilver is an X-Men first (or Brotherhood of Mutants, or whatever) and an Avenger second. It should be asked the other way around on why the Avengers is allowed to use them.

And I've been meaning to start a topic on this, and didn't think the time was right, but I really think the X-Men universe should stay separate from the other Marvel universes. Spider-Man, Fantastic 4, Daredevil, Avengers, etc. all work fine in the same universe, but I don't think they work with mutants all that well. X-Men is heavily political and has much deeper philosophies to it than Marvels other titles, and the simple existence of "mutates" I think undermines the X-Men at large. If the world at large has such a problem with mutants, why not Spider-Man and the Fantastic 4 as well (seems only Thing and the Hulk get really discriminated against).

Honestly, it doesn't really matter if you mutate at birth or later in life, I think it should have the same political consequences. But for that to happen, you also have to take away from some of the fun of the other comics that aren't overly political and are just fun. Therefore I just don't think they fit in the same universe. I'd love to see Marvel get full rights to Spider-Man and Daredevil back so we can see them team up with the Avengers, but I really don't want to see the same from the X-Men.

That was Apocalypse when he was like 13, dude. He's going to be a hell of a lot different in the movie, since it takes place 4000+ years after he constructs the pyramids.

DOFP is easily the best of the series. Singer may not have directed XMen/FirstClass, but none of the movies he's been involved in has sucked. Only that abomination by Brett Ratner.

I actually think an X-Men/Avengers crossover could work if you basically went by the comic model of Earth 616, Earth-1610, Earth-555 etc.

Just have them be Fox Earth, Sony Earth, and Disney Earth.
