I have 2 notable ones.

1. I have tickets to see Phantom Menace and me and some friends know there is some big event at the end and we're doing everything we can to avoid seeing stuff. We're hanging out in one of those overpriced CD/Movie stores in a mall close to the theater and some jackass comes in and yells what happens to Darth Maul.

2. My first time reading through the Harry Potter series, just finished OotP and I'm halfway through HBP. My friend, who finally convinced me that these books were actually good and not just kids crap, is telling me about this video he saw where a guy rides by a line at a book store where people are waiting to buy OotP and spoils the ending to everyone there. I had already read it so I decide to check it out, and near the end of the video it starts to dawn on me that the book that was about to be spoiled was the one I was currently reading (think the title of the video just said "Man spoils Harry Potter book" but no title). So yeah, that happened, said friend got nut punched the next time I saw him.

This didn't happen to me but to a friend right in front of me. We were discussing Boardwalk Empire with a second friend. The spoilee mentions that he just started season 2. A very prominent character gets killed at the end of that season. Upon hearing that the spoilee likes BE and is on season two, the spoiler blurts out "Yeah, can you believe they killed ______". There was dead silence for about 5 seconds in which my friends head was about to explode. To be fair to the spoiler, this was more of a boneheaded mistake than something malicious.

I had a pretty huge Wire death spoiled for me in a completely random thread on here years ago (I was in the middle of watching the series at the time).

But I'd say the "worst" is for shows with source material. TWD and GoT are the biggest around this board. And people who read and knew shite would come into non-reader threads and try to seem smart and cool by "theorizing" what would happen. I'd say that kind of shite is the worst because it's just people trying to be dicks. Or trying to be cool, which is worse for some reason.

Was reading a newspaper article on the Alabama football team of 1999- the idiot writing it compared UAt losing early to La Tech and coming back to win the SEC basically like Bruce Willis being dead in The Sixth Sense. And I hadn't seen it yet.

Also- Jaye Davidson up for Best Actor for The Crying Game.

Some cocksucker on this board spoiled the Tyrion/Tywin "event" replying to me in a thread I started not remotely related to said "event". The thread was, iirc, before the first episode of that season even aired. Completely out of left field. I had to watch the entire season knowing what was going to happen. Really sucked.

Pretty sure he got the ban hammer pretty swiftly following that post.

On that one I had a DJ dedicate the next song to Jaye Davidson in The Crying Game. "If you've seen the movie, you know what I mean." Song was Dude Looks Like a Lady.

Had to travel on Thursday so I couldn't make the opening of The Force Awakens. Some d-bag in the airport was walking around with a sign taped to his shirt saying "Han Solo Dies"

Empire Strikes Back:

Friend saw it before me, and told me he could tell me something about the movie that would ruin it for me.

Me: "Then don't tell me."
Him: "I won't, but it has to do with Luke's father."
Me: "He's dead. I don't need to know any more."
Him: "What if he isn't dead?"
Me: "If Darth Vader is his father I'm going to kill you."
Him: "..."
Me: "You fricking a-hole."

During GoT a bunch of friends shared my HBO Go account. I went to watch the episode where Joffrey is poisoned that Monday after the release. Flip on the episode and didn't realize someone had been watching and paused it. Just so happens they paused at the exact time Joffrey is laying dead and purple. Spoiled that whole episode/event for me. Changed my HBO Go password that night

I wanted to show my gf From Dusk Till Dawn as she had never heard of it. We were in the living room with her roommate who's a great guy but he is a hardcore reddit "I know pop culture" nerd and I told him no spoilers to which he blurted out, "Oh you mean the vampire movie??" My gf and I were so pissed he ruined the surprise for her - I almost feel like she still hasn't seen it now because of that.

I was at a friend's during that episode but it was like a year before I started to watch GOT - didn't fully realize what I saw till I started the show myself.

The found footage movie Quarantine put the ending of the movie in the trailer and on the poster which is made it pretty easy to figure out what will happen once you are maybe 10 minutes into the movie.

I just bought the last Harry Potter book and went to LSU football camp the next day.

My roommates were two friends I went to high school with and the fourth was Marcus Davis. I didn’t know it at the time, but he was the no. 1 CB recruit in the state of Texas. Had offers to everywhere.

Marcus hears my friends talking shite to me about it the reading the book so they decide to hold me down on the ground and Marcus reads the last chapter or epilogue or whatever out loud to ruin the ending. I was not pleased

Sixth Sense. Girl came to class in college talking about it. I kind of had a crush on her and was looking for reasons to have conversations with her. I asked her to tell me about it and she said she didn't want to spoil it. I said, just give me the plot summary. She says, "It's about this guy that is dead the whole movie but you don't know it until the end". I then tried to explain the difference in plot summary and spoiling the whole damn movie. I am still pissed and I never got a date so it was all for nothing.

Some old man once spoiled Firestorm for me at a dinner party. He said it didn't have anything to do with the plot or ending. I told him I liked to go in fresh.
