After playing a mentor to Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” franchise, Woody Harrelson might help guide another iconic character’s journey.

Sources tell Variety that, while talks are still in the early stages, Harrelson is the top choice to play Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming “Star Wars” spinoff starring Alden Ehrenreich.

Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke also star, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing. Disney had no comment.

ETA: Confirmed:

Here's what directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller had to say in a statement: “We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."

Sounds like an outstanding cast. Hopefully, it's a good movie, too.

The solo movie will tell us all we need to know about the direction of the Star Wars brand.

Hopefully it's a good direction.

Please let it be Hondo Ohnaka. (I know Jim Cummings voices him, but Woody Harrelson playing a live action version of him would be epic)

I think it will be pretty solid. I think Disney knows not to frick this up.

How many marvel movies were there before the first turd? Like 7. Iron Man 3. And that actually had some promise to it. And then its was another 5 until they dropped another turd. Avengers 2.

Seems to already be a good direction. TFA was fun. RO was fun. That's all these movies are meant to be. Fun action space adventures.

Am I the only one that really wanted Chris Pratt to play young Han?

Chris Pratt is older than Ford was in 1977.

If this is just a one-off, what's the likelihood this ends with Han saving Chewy to setup his life debt and their partnership?
