I've always said GRRM should write at whatever pace he wants and make sure he's happy with the final product. That being said, it really has to suck for those who have been reading since 1996. They got three great books by 2000 and probably thought this thing would be wrapped up by 2008.

I've been reading since 2000-ish.
It has been brutal. Honestly, I stopped caring many years ago. I just watch the show now and don't care too much about what happens with the books.
