There have been quite a few trailers popping up on TV this week for it and it has got me thinking more about it.

It may be crap, but if it is as gritty and "Saving Private Ryan"ish as some think, it could rank high. We have all had our fill of the Skywalker saga and it will be nice to have a feature film dabble with the EU.

Of course I remember wondering the same thing last year for TFA. It ranks slightly ahead of the prequels, probably tied with ROTJ.

It looks decent, but there's no way it can top the originals.

Setting childhood love to the side, I think it can be done. They do have their issues, but do stand up to the test of time. Maybe some of the best examples of that.

No upcoming SW movie will have the WOW factor for us old people, but we have never really had a depth filled movie either. Lucas tried with the prequels, but it was beyond his skill set.

I don't know if any movie can wow like the originals did. What happened was a phenomenon. It was the right place and time.

Truth. Older folk like my dad can't appreciate any new Star Wars bc the originals made such an impression.

Without spoilers if possible, what is the background of rogue one?

TFA was many times worse than Phantom Menace, which was atrocious.

"a rogue band of fighters come together to steal the death star plans."

Gareth Edwards says that Felicity Jones plays a rebel soldier. “We wanted to see fear, humor, and warmth” in the character, he said, not just a cliched image of a warrior. More important, this is definitely a war movie. “It’s called Star Wars,” emphasized the director. This film is about moral grey areas and realities of war, and is set in between Episode III and IV — and closer to IV, aka the original Star Wars. Greig Fraser, who shot Zero Dark Thirty, is the cinematographer.

Rogue One is set in a time when the Jedi are basically extinct — there are no warriors with “magical powers” to save the day. “It’s about the fact that God’s not coming to save us,” said Edwards. “The absence of the Jedi hangs over the movie.” So this could be a very different Star Wars movie, one that features more “reality” than we’ve ever seen, and potentially some slightly morally murky characters, from a moral perspective. And it has a female lead — color us very

Only it that cringe inducing "I rebel" line ended up on the cutting room floor.

I like the concept, and the trailers look cool. However, I have very low expectations for this one. There was way too much smoke that this thing was a complete mess. I also don't believe that Disney would ever make a really dark war film. It'll probably be a safe film, similar to The Force Awakens whick was pretty weak IMO.
