We just finished up SOA, and she's wanting to watch something a little more "uplifting". Our favorite so far as been LOST.

We've completed: SOA, LOST, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story

Makes sense.

That's tough to get with an hour-long if that's what you are looking for. Hour longs are usually about problems.

With that said, it does depend. Maybe Friday Night Lights (not always a downer), The Flash (solid entertainment and generally funny), Fringe (clever show, Walter Keeps it light). It seems those are all basically crime and drama shows, those won't be uplifting.

I've been watching The Americans. Not uplifting, but I'm enjoying it.

Do these follow a story line the entire series? Or, are they a different story every episode?

Suits?

Not uplifting, but no killing either.

And a fair amount of insipid romance to keep the wife interested.

Science fiction: Babylon 5

More in line with SOA: The Shield (technically the same universe as SOA)

But my best recommendation is The Wire.

Pretty Little Liars.

Shocking revelations

A twist that will leave you breathless,

Every moment a game changer

Drama between texting and facial expressions that will blow your mind

What

(oh my God it's a text)

WILL

(you can't do this!)

Happen

(who are you?!)

Next

(it's OK. It's OK. JUMP SCARE)

Tonight on free form. The new name for ABC family.

Mad Men has some uplifting moments...

and some moments that'll make you wanna fix a drink and give yourself an artificial uplifting. So there's that.
It's also a damn good show
