97% on RT

It's coming out here on Wednesday and I'll be there for the matinee. Looks like it could be the movie of the year so far.

I'm sure it will have stellar acting.

I am also sure it will just piss me off and make me want to punch priests in the face.

So not really interested.

This looks great.

I can't believe I just found out that Tom
McCarthy, who played Scott Templeton, possibly the most annoying character on The Wire, wrote and directed this, The Station Agent, Win Win, and also wrote Up. Damn.

I attended Catholic high school in Boston during the general time frame most of these molestations took place. Nothing occurred at my school except we did have one former NHL referee who went on to become a priest who had a propensity for beating the living crap out of us.

Should have gotten some of that diocese money.

Saw it on the west coast. Great in telling the story of the tenacity of the "spotlight" division of the Globe tackling an incredibly sensitive subject in the face of such strong denial and opposition.
That being said, it has an almost documentary feel to it. Performances solid, not spectacular. Nothing really to celebrate here.. Depressing subject matter.

That's the spirit.

It's not anti-religion. It's anti-assholes.

priest and a rabbi are standing on a street corner. a little boy runs by.

the priest leans over to the rabbi and whispers "wanna frick him?"

the rabbi thinks for a second, leans back over the the priest, and whispers "out of what?"

I saw it earlier this month at a screening. It was fricking fantastic. I thought Ruffalo's character was great.
