I have been watching his reviews for the past two years. I honestly dont think he is that bad.

He is very sarcastic, but I like his sense of humor. The stabs he takes at the show actually make sense when you compare it to the book writing or (considering lack of GRRM content) look at the tone of the series in general.

I still enjoy the show, and he has even admitted that its okay if people like the show. He just feels that since around season 4, the plot has had too many contrivances, and he isnt alone with that opinion.

I don't dislike him at all. I find him very informative of Martin's works. People get all bent out of shape about his videos because they think he comes off as pretentious. But what it really is, he has studied the bulk of Martin's works, and because of that he tries his to make well informed predictions about what is going to happen in the books. People try to say that he thinks he's right all the time, but somehow forget that at the end of every video series he has done, he says that he's probably wrong about half the stuff he just mention.

Another reason I think people don't like him is that he predicts that the series will not end with some massive war of light vs dark, and that all prophecy is bs. Which is pretty easy to conclude if you've read Martin's other works, and know that he is also an atheist and pacifist. Jacob's argument is: why would an atheist and pacifist have a light vs dark war at the end of his series when he clearly denounces both religion and war? Jacobs also believes that a light vs dark war is too large of a trope, and knows that Martin likes to turn tropes on their heads, because he has studied that man's work.

I like Jacobs. I find all of his videos to be very entertaining. I hope he continues to do more.

I find him funny. I always like when he points out things I didn't noticed.

He's not bad from a purely entertainment value. His theories are somewhat interesting in the early stages before he goes full on lunatic, which he pretty much always does.

I would recommend non-readers stay away from his channel entirely. He can certainly be misleading at times, and people who haven't read the books probably won't be able to tell the difference.

But let's be clear about one thing: His criticism of the show is not just based on a perceived lack of logic in some of the changes the show has made or that he thinks it's ruining the book series. There's clearly some bitterness displayed because the show has made it clear that several of his theories are both wrong and stupid.

I honestly think that's where a lot of the "this shite sucks compared to the books" hate comes from. Many people have built up their own theories and things they want to happen due to it taking for-fricking-ever for GRRM to finish the damn things.

It would be like if JKR stopped writing the main Harry Potter series at Prisoner of Azkaban leaving everyone to wonder WTF was going to happen for years and then the movie series still did Goblet, Order, Half Blood, and Deathly Hallows. People would be like "YOU frickING KILLED DUMBLEDORE???? WHY THE HELL IS HARRY NOT WITH HERMIONE??? WTF IS THIS SNAPE WAS A DOUBLE AGENT CRAP??? JKR WOULD NEVER DO THAT shite!!!! THE WRITERS ARE JUST MAKING UP bullshite!!!!"

Any theory in particular . Keep in mind that the show wrecked Dorne, so any subplots tied to Dorne were killed off as well.

Also, notice how inept they have handled the wars in the recent seasons. Dorne joins Dany, yet we never see ANY Dornish bannerman. Same for the Reach, am I expected to belief every house in the Reach betrayed Tyrell.

He needs to separate his theories. His Book theories still have some basis. He needs a Show list of theories as we dealing with a much smaller cast and very watered down plotline.

Again, I love both the show and books. I only want an example of where his theories were disproved.

He thought Jon's parents were Brandon Stark and Ashara Dayne, and he thought the child Ned found at the tower of joy was Dany.

Also, he thought Quentyn Martell survived dragonfire and stole a dragon from Meereen. No way something that huge happens in the books and gets no mention in the show.

I'm pretty sure he thought Daario and Euron were the same person, athough I'm not as confident that was something he believed or if I heard that somewhere else.

Agreed.

The claims of 'fanfic' in regards to the show are ridiculous and insulting.

Preston Jacobs is a retard. He thought Ashara Dayne & Ned Stark were the parents of Jon Snow. I don't care how much of ASOIAF he has "analyzed" that right there destroys his credibility.

Also dude sounds like a bitter pussy when talking about the TV show. frick him.

I think he is still certain that in the books Jon's parents will be Ashara's and Ned's.

While I think it's completely wrong, I have a soft spot for this theory. Daario is just worthless to me as a character in both the show and books, but it would be an incredibly satisfying reveal of Daario were somehow Euron. Lots of connections between the two of them, but I don't find it possible that Euron could have gone that rapidly between Mereen and the Iron Islands and for no one to notice.

I actually don't hate that one. It was just one of the ones which sprung to mind as being proven incorrect.
