Cate Blanchett- Elizabeth/Elizabeth the Golden Age

Helen Mirren- HBO films Elizabeth I

Anne-Marie Duff- Masterpiece's Elizabeth I

I have seen all three. I watched HBO and Mirren's effort last night. I enjoyed Blanchett and Mirren's performance much more than Duff's in Masterpiece. I liked Blanchett's performance(she is never bad IMO), but Mirren's really brought the personality, strength, and vagaries of her character out in a much more affecting way. I also thought the HBO film seemed to bring a less golden light and anchored itself more in the time than the others. I actually was a little disappointed in Tom Hardy's portrayal of Robert, Earl of Leicester-although I think that reflects the production and writing more than Hardy. Thoughts?

I love Cate Blanchett. She nailed it in both Elizabeth movies.

Helen Mirren

Though all were pretty good I thought her portrayal was more grounded. Also think the HBO production was the best in accuracy.

Cate Blanchett

Her.

This was like her most perfect role.

She should have made a career out of it like the Bond films or Bourne Identity.

She just keeps playing Elizabeth.
