Which movie will make more at the Box Office, Oppenheimer or Barbie?

Both come out on the same day.

Barbie.

It's shorter and more commercially accessible.

On first thought I thought surely Oppenheimer, but it’s rated R & Barbie is pg13 I think. So I can’t call it. I’d still guess Oppenheimer tho tbh.

The Barbie movie looks awful and will have no legs at all IMO. It will probably do big business the first weekend and then fall off a cliff.

Most likely. But for the sake of movie theaters, I’m really hoping that it is the rare surprise that perfectly captures some level of nostalgia of the moment in a way that a small cultural blip is created. Even though this is very unlikely to become that, the odds aren’t zero. There are at least a few things about the IP that could connect to that moment if perfectly threaded. So I’m really trying hard to hold out some hope on that longshot chance… movie theaters frankly need it

Barbie has the broader appeal and it’s not rated R. This is an easy answer, that being said with all the memes and jokes about a Barbie/Oppenheimer double feature I can see Oppenheimer doing better than expected also it looks really good

Barbie and it won't be close (but I am okay being wrong).

Ratings, interest level, marketing...

Goto Walmart and you'll see huge pallet train promoting toys and the movie.

I can't fathom wanting to see this, but neither my wife nor I grew up playing with Barbies... so we aren't the demo. Our daughter has seen the previews, and loves Barbie.. but has no interest in this movie. So I think the target demo is not the wide net they had hoped for?

Barbie by a mile - it's all over Twitter and TikTok. Teens and tweens will be going in groups. This board has the hots for Oppenheimer, but Barbie is the reality.

Unless it really, really sucks.

How does it look awful?
It looks like it could be in the running to win an Oscar for production design

Barbie will make a lot more. It doesn't seem like a movie any guy would want to see but apparently a lot of them do. Oppenheimer has limited appeal outside of Nolan fanboys.

I know which one I’m going to see, but there’s a multi-generational wave of little girls and former little girls who all want to see Barbie

It's being screened right now. First reactions will be out later tonight.

Oppenheimer will also likely be sharing its base with Mission Impossible. Even though I think all three will do well, you’re spot on IMO.

Oppenheimer is a 3 hour R rated movie. Barbie would really need to bomb to lose.

Barbie and it won't be close. Box office tracking already showing it.

Granted I have my tickets to Oppenheimer already
