Superman/Batman will not touch SW. I also think it will not meet studio expectations. In other words, I am expecting a Superman/Batman "flop."

SW will dominate whatever is in the theaters. I am not saying that I know Disney will definitely make a great SW movie....but I think it will bring in the masses for at least the first 3 weeks. 250M+ Wed-Sun...

If star wars is even remotely good I will see it 10 times at the theater.

I still cannot fathom how the Avengers is so popular.

It's coming off a high, where the prequels left a bad taste in a lot of mouths, and I hear a lot of "meh" from fans on the Abrams choice.

Do not underestimate the power of the force, young Padawan.

I honestly think that at this point Avengers has a bigger and broader fan base than Star Wars. Star Wars will do well but I think it falls to the 1.2 to 1.5 range and if Avengers 2 gets solid reviews, it will be close to the 2 billion range.

Competent film making, action packed, mostly well delivered humor, character guys like Jackson and RDJ... even outside of the content the films have a lot of easily marketable parts that make them draw crowds.

And they're escalating and entire universe on film with unique ramifications (The only films close to that are the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises, both monumentally popular at their peak as well).

Jurassic World is also coming out next year. I could see it pushing $1 billion if the trailers and marketing are good

So when adjusted, Episode 2 and 3 have made like 400M
Avengers made 600M.

Avengers will take it.

Did I say episode 1 frick nugget?

People went see episode 1 because it had been decades since a Star Wars film. Upon realization that it was mediocre, episode 2 and 3 took a dive down to 400m.

I swear some people on here seem to be 4th generation inbred. Your dad should serve jail time for not jerking off into a brown paper napkin instead the day he got your mom pregnant.

The last Star Wars film before Episode I was just the decade prior FWIW.

Yup. How much time passed between episode 6 and 1?

I have faith that Abrams will do a good job. I love the Star Trek reboot.
I think that this film will surpass episode 1 numbers, but I don't see it topping Avengers 2 world wide.

Avengers 2. Christmas releases have to compete with other priorities for customers' money.

Episode 2 got beat by Spider-Man. Avengers definitely wins.

I wonder if anyone will have the balls to release a blockbuster type big budget film within 2 weeks before or after the Avengers 2 release.
