When should I stop watching Dexter?

Just finished the second season. Really like the show, but not obsessed or anything because there's several characters I can't stand. When should I stop watching the show to avoid disappointment and move on to something else? It's no secret the show starts to decline at some point.

Absolutely watch season 4. Thanksgiving episode FTW.
I didn't hate season 5, but that would probably be enough. Last season is comically bad

4 is the best
i actually didn't mind 5, but some don't. i think it was an interesting thing as to what happened.
the last 2 seasons were weird to me.. so maybe go to season 6 if you like.. but as some say. season 4 is the very peak.

Just watch the whole series. Yes it starts to decline, but you should just finish the series.

Season four is a good place to end it. 5 is bad. I just worked with Lithgow and even though he has been in so much. I could not help but think of his role in Dexter every time he walked on set.

I loved Dexter but the writing is all over the place in the last 2 seasons. I could have stopped after season 6 I guess

Everyone will have different answers. All I can say is that you absolutely have to watch season 4. S5 is mediocre as frick. Never saw S6 or S7.

I actually gasped at the end of season 4. I didn't hate 5. The last season was miserable.

It bugged me, show had potential and it felt like they fumbled on the 1 yard line.

Season 1 is the best, 2 and 4 are both tied for second, 3 is good too, I watched season 5 but couldn't keep my interest after that. It stopped being good, and there were too many god damn serial killers in Miami.
