Will never get remade.
Society is too PC these days.
Reversing the races and having every joke be about crackers and whitey and a town of all black folks appalled at a white sheriff, and an Asian rail company employing all white workers would be absolutely hilarious

You might be on to something there!

Remaking any Mel Brooks movie would be so toothless today
Since Disney is on a kick remaking animated classics, I can imagine a new Song of the South. Or rather, I can't imagine just how much they'd brutalize it. But it'd probably win an Oscar
Someone said ET, I thought there had been some recent films that basically were ET remakes, just different titles.
Jaws- I think the sequels proved that you could only legitimately make Jaws once, but I'm sure it will return some day. Can't be worse than Jaws 3 etc.
On being a disaster- there are a lot of John Wayne movies out there, that work because of the Duke's iconic style. These are often rather simplistic, heroic tales, from an innocent age of film. I'm sure someone will remake one and try to make it "dark and edgy", and lose EVERYTHING that made the original appealing.

I watched "The Quiet Man" the other day.
One of my favorite movies, ever.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance...with Leonardo DiCaprio as Tom Doniphon, Bradley Cooper as Ransom Stoddard and Johnny Depp as Liberty Valance.

Is it too late to say an all-female GhostBusters?
... because that looks like it's going to be the bottom point of the Remake fad.
