What happens after dramatic scenes in TV shows and movies?

Take for example this scene from Mad Men:

Did Bert just pick up the paper, say a few words, and awkwardly walk out from behind the desk? What about the pen that was tossed down? Did he retrieve it and put the top back on, etc like a servant or just leave it where it fell?

'The King in Da Norf' is another good example for this question.
