Is it worth watching if you already know the entire story? I watch an hour long documentary on this whole thing before the movie was released.

Who gives a frick about his sophomore slump? Yeah, he was in shite films then, but then Ben started making films himself and proved that he's a great director. He just won the Golden Globe and the SAG award for best director. If an actor or filmmaker can make it out of a sophomore slump, more power to him. Every actor stars in a few bad movies.

The ending where they put the guy in the wood chipper still freaks me out...

It has absolutely zero character development

Completely disagree. For example, it was the unsure, scared, assumed unprepared member of the team that ended up saving everyone's arse by being a boss telling the story of the movie in Arabic to the guy at the airport. There are other examples.

How this movie is the favorite over Django, Silver Linings Playbook, I'll never understand.

I think the Academy left Affleck off the best Director list because of what he did the last 20 mins of that movie.

Good film, not great. I knew they probably took some artistic liberties but after reading about the whole situation Affleck hammed it up too much.

Once the final act hit, I had a feeling it was going to try to highwire act more than necessary and it didnt disappoint.

I'll be watching Lincoln this weekend. So far my favorite film of '12 is Silver Linings.

anybody criticizing argo's final 20 minutes while proclaiming django to be the superior film gets a big LOL

and afleck was left off b/c of how he treated islamofascissts in the film. bigelow was left off for similar political reasons

Yeah, it was a very well-made movie but nothing about it was great to me. Good acting, good directing, good script.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. His character had given us no hints or reasons as to why he would suddenly grow a pair of balls when he had been scared shitless for the whole film.

There was no development there. He just busted out with his description of the movie because the script called for it.
