so basically, william stops trying to get his work published because people didn't understand his first novel's true meaning, right? was avalon landing symbolic of his relationship with his brother?
i've seen it about 5 times but usually get lost in jamal's character since i went thru similar shite as far as writing, hoops, school issues, etc. paid extra attention to forrester this time.
my guh anna was pretty fly

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, but I think that he stopped writing because the topic was too deeply personal for him. He had to see the story of his brothers personal and emotional destruction from the war discussed in the public domain too impersonally as if he wasn't really human. Also, he was questioned as to the meaning that held great significance to him. It was his way of coping with his own trauma to retreat away from it.

I enjoy this movie and thought Connery was good in it.
The actor who plays Jamal....horrible.

One of my favorites. i loved the way van sant shot NYC. Still one of my favorite movies that is shot in the city, and the jazzy soundtrack is dope as hell.
