Negan has an army. Maybe a very rag-tag bunch but it's an army nonetheless.

But he doesn't seem to have an "inner circle" SS type group of enforcers. It appears to be just him and a bunch of whooped arses.

Actually, if walkers are the only real threat, that is by far the smartest place to walk. Freedom of movement favors the quick.

Well since they're not, it's not.

I get that, but I gather that someone that has a God complex, and rules by fear, doesn't have the full support of those under him. I'm thinking if the head of the snake is cut off (Negan), there would be little to no resistance from the underlings.

the alexandrians are now strangely safe from people who would do them harm, at least in the near geographical area

the saviors (whether the show has depicted it convincingly or not) clearly control the area of operations and aside from possible stray drifters are effective in keeping the peace

so yes at the moment the zombies are the only real threat of random bodily harm. this is a subtle shift in where the show has been going and i wish they'd expand on it a bit...ie: show the saviors actually doing what they say they do (security)

Rick, is that you? Their constant false sense of security and bad decisions based on that had been their constant undoing.

There is no safety and even whatever relative safety may come from Negan, you can never be sure what he or especially his men, would do to some lady out by herself, they are pretty rapey. And as you even mention, there's always strays. So why risk it?

Maybe, but again, people will do whatever you tell them when you're providing food and security in a world where both are pretty much non-existent. You don't think that maybe there was one person around Hitler, Saddam, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, etc, that didn't exactly agree with the way they ruled and could've taken them out? They didn't out of fear of what could happen to them and their family. The problem is the people that mostly agree with Negan are the ones he surrounds himself with. Dwight might think he's an a-hole but Simon and that group are on board 100% with everything he's doing.

I mean this isn't a dude coming into your HOA meeting and taking over your neighborhood. Everyone still alive has seen family and friends killed by both walkers and people, and has probably nearly starved to death numerous times. So this crazy dude says if I work for him and follow his rules I have shelter, food, and security for whats left of my family. I'm giving that a run for awhile to see how this goes. Someone gets his face burned or gets messed up, I start to think more about having something for dinner and not having to go hurt for my own food than ethics and morals. Also so I kill Negan, am I in charge now? Do I want that responsibility to provide for everyone without the same thing happening to me?

That said, I would like to see Negan's backstory to see if it is believable.

Solid episode. As usual, I assume nobody was screaming at their TV louder than I was for Carl to get shot in the fricking face.

What a stupid plan by Carl. And of course he pusses out when push comes to shove. I was surprised he actually shot the first couple of dudes, but he was standing there with an assault rifle, with a higher advantage than the rest, and Negan standing there. And he did nothing. He could've capped Negan in the chest and then sprayed at everyone else while he made a run for it.

Also, it annoys me how impossibly ninja Jesus is. Like it's the the point where it is not believable at all.

And I get that they are trying to show how bad Negan is, but they need to show some other side of him than just this "in your face, dickhead, cocky a-hole" side. This dude is personable, sure, but he is also a giant douche to seemingly every single person in his life. There is no way he would last that long. I mean, dude literally steals peoples' wives and then mocks them endlessly for it. Someone would've had enough of his shite by now and done something. especially considering how often he is just off alone with people who genuinely hate him.

Dwight is alone with him. Hell, even Carl is alone with him holding Lucille, and could beat him to death while nobody is looking. Same with Rick.

I realize that that can't really happen for the sake of story, but damn, they can at least show us a decent side to Negan...or at least something that would make us be like okay, that's why they haven't killed him yet. Because if all they do is keep showing how big of a dick he is, then it makes it more unreal that he's made it this far.

What, since he is a blue eyed, long haired white hippie, he can't be a ninja? Out of all of the unbelievable shite on this show, Jesus being a ninja is one that doesn't bother me at all.
