Brilliantly. Guy can actually act when he's not trying to do the whole fast talking wise-guy shtick he has for comedies.

His bit annoys the shite out of me. Just makes him look like a dick and annoying in movies. Never even comes off as funny to me.

Isn't this guy a one trick pony stuck in comedy and RomCom hell?

Nope. He's actually a good actor and would probably be perfect for a role in True Detective (depending, of course, on the writing).

Swingers
Domestic Disturbance
Made
Return to Paradise
The Prime Gig
Psycho
etc, etc,

Decent range of work.

VV could pull it magnificently! Don't knock the dude just yet. Especially when we don't know what exactly the characters role is, and if he even gets the job.

SHouldn't that say from Psycho to True Detective?

He's great in Psycho. He actually can act well, he just does stupid comedies all the time. I'm sure he'd be great in the show.

My main problem with it is that I'd find it hard to take him seriously even if he has it in him. I saw Mud and Dallas Buyers before watching True Detective. That helped changed my mindset of MM and made me buy into Rust. Would be tough for me to go from Delivery Man Vince Vaughn (Yes I watched this with a "friend" who picked it out) to seeing him in True Detective.

I think so too. People probably forget he is a pretty legit actor because of his slapstick stuff. I think he'd do very well on the series.

Vince Vaughn in Talks for True Detective Season 2

I would love to see this. My second favorite VV role is Lester from Clay Pigeons.

It definitely interests me because like others in here have said, I think he could pull off that serious role.

But these actors need to start getting confirmed. Soon, everyone will be rumored to be in talks for Season 2

Support. VV has good acting in some movies. It's going to be really difficult to match MM and WH from last season but a guy like VV could pull it off.

People have spent the last 20 years paying to see Trent from the Swingers just like they paid to see Wooderson from Dazed. Then people stop paying to see some iteration of those characters and now both are adjusting. I think Vince's work is strong enough to support him being a good fit. Remember there was a good bit of humor worked into season one. All depends on how the characters interact. Season 2 probably won't trump Season 1 in anyone's mind unless the finale is not an hour long, clichéd, bed shitting nightmare.

Hate him in most of his movies but really liked him in Clay Pigeons. Don't remember the role shown here, but he's not his normal irritating self in it.

Why VV could be great in TD

Yeah I think he'd do fine but honestly I thought filming would've started already. I hope there's a script ready bc this will take longer than the sopranos at this pace.
