Because you touch yourself at night.

I really need to get caught up on this show as I missed much of it. What happened to the monk?

Grrr

I also didn't really like the new girl he slept with. She's a skank.

I'm glad priest didn't die. I think he brings a lot to the show.

I was loving this show the first few episodes but the last two didn't hold my interest long enough to finish watching them. I never considered myself an action junkie but with this show when they're not pillaging and fighting it gets boring to me.

I actually felt let down by the last episode. It wasn't nearly as exciting and seemed a bit all over the place. I enjoy the battle scenes and their clever ruses. I kind of almost wish Ragnar hadn't become earl yet.

The promo said that you will be surprised and shocked by the outcome. That was not a a finale. It was just an episode. Not nearly enough suspense to make me care what happens next.

I agree. The finale had so much potential. Oh well, the season picked up enough momentum for me to care about what happens next, even if the finale was an overall flop.

Little Ragnar the Cockblocker

I know, he will forever be known as little Cokblok Lothbrok. Which is really kind of unfair, because he had a point. Ragnar was behaving like an arse and publicly very disrespectful of his family. I did think it was a nice touch that one of Ragnar's buddies tried to help the kid lighten up and put it into perspective, as I expect he'll just have to get used to it. Vikings are pretty much assholes, when you get right down to it.

what an intense culture, whats weird is there were rules to their society, albeit twisted and psychotic.

pick up 13th warrior by Michael Crichton, very easy read but it has some details concerning Viking( north men) culture and behavior, very enlightning as to their thought process towards what they can see and what they cannot.

This show could do a better job of portraying that pivotal foundation in Viking life.

you didn't find it interesting that the British King was blown away by the fact that the Vikings had fashioned a ship that could traverse the sea and a river.

The next scene has the Vikings all impressed with the carpentry of a simple table.

it really spoke volumes in the priorities of the two cultures.

I think they do a fine job. Everything we know about Vikings is from oral tradition written down hundreds of years after the fact. I am alright with historical discrepancies because it makes the show more like a viking story in that the details are really unknown but the general story is so like old bards they add their own details.

i love the scene with the messenger boy having to wait on the ship's prow for the villagers to decide whether or not he's a ghost. great read

ETA: BTW it's Eaters of the Dead by Crichton

I think the culture is way more interesting in this series than they battles. I like a good battle every once in a while, but the northman culture is the bread and butter of this show.

Agreed.

I also lie how Ragnar's son is in many ways more mature than Ragnar. They've done a great job making Ragnar into a big child in many scenes.

I wouldn't call him immature. Its very much a viking trait to find fun in the terrible things he is doing.

I did some research (wikipedia, granted) that said all of Ragnar's famous sons, including Bjorn Ironsides and Ivar the Boneless, were with Aslaug (the new lady in the show). The son Ragnar currently has is named Fridleif.

In the show, "Fridleif" is named Bjorn, but that is apparently inaccurate.

Also, fun fact: Floki is Gustaf Skarsgard, son of Stellan Skarsgard and brother of Alexander Skarsgard. He also starred in Kon-Tiki.
