Who is Alfred's father? And who's the father of the little boy that was sent away when Ragner was brought in?

We don't know. His mom was a major slut.

Slut mom had said Ragnar was the little boy's father, which is why they kept him around. As soon as Ragnar denied fricking her, they threw the boy out.

*edited that weird mistake. sorry.

The boy sent away isn't Alfred. It is Magnus. Alfred is Athelstan son.

I don't like how they act like Alfred is the heir apparent

Even if you want to pretend that he's aethelstans son for the show, one of the coolest parts of Alfred the great's past is that he was such an unlikely king because he was the 5th son

On the show they act like aethelwulf has no other kids

I believe Alfred took over when his brother died, and the kingship wasn't automatically an inherited right bc the witan had to approve.

What was the point of the Magnus storyline though?

He did take over when his brother died

But two other brothers were king before that brother

Alfred was the 4th brother to be king of wessex

So I still don't understand why Athelstan is so damn important to everyone. What's the deal with that?

Aethelwulf was fricking that queen also if I remember correct, so maybe that dumbass sent away his own son.

Magnus has blonde hair and looked viking though. Guess it was just some other blonde haired English dude though

I think Magnus really is Ragnar's son and he said all that just to protect him. I'm sure Magnus is going to be reintroduced later once he's grown into a fricking badass after having to fend for himself all this time.

I hope something like that happens bc otherwise it's a pointless storyline.

And I also never understood why two kings obsessed over Athelstan. For a while I feared they were gay for him.

Its a dark world at that time. They call it the dark ages for a reason. Rare to see a real holy man, someone who truly wrestles with his faith and tries to live up to it. There was a purity of heart about him yet he was not a coward that made him stand out. He was an example of what people could be instead of what they were and the two kings both recognized it.

This. Ragnar denied fricking her, but they showed her practically rape him in the bushes.
