Anyone seen this movie yet? It looks totally different from Primer, it is a "romantic thriller science fiction film", but it still sounds like something worth checking out. Apparently no dialog for the final third of the movie.

“Upstream Color has received broad critical acclaim. After its premiere, Keith Kimbell wrote "most critics couldn't stop talking about it."[10] Mark Olsen, for the Los Angeles Times, wrote, "For a time, Upstream Color was trending higher on Twitter than Sundance itself."[4] According to Rotten Tomatoes, 81% of critics have given the film positive reviews, based on 53 reviews.

Sam Adams of the The A.V. Club gave the movie an "A" and wrote, "having the movie wash over me was one of the most transcendent experiences of my moviegoing life." Adams wrote, "It's utterly perplexing, and heart-stoppingly beautiful, quite literally overwhelming", comparing parts of the movie to The Tree of Life by Terrence Malick.”

“The film premiered January 21, 2013 at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and will be followed by a theatrical release in the United States on April 5, 2013[2], self-distributed by Carruth.[10] Carruth explained, "Everything about the choice to do the distribution is about contextualizing" the movie. The film was shown at South by Southwest on March 8, 2013.”

“Upstream Color is a romantic thriller science fiction film[2] written, directed and produced by Shane Carruth.[3] The film is the second feature directed by Carruth, best known for his 2004 debut Primer.[4] Upstream Color stars Carruth, Amy Seimetz, Andrew Sensenig, and Thiago Martins.”

“In November, 2012, the premise was described by Sundance Film Festival publicists: "A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives."[5][6]

The Sundance Festival program provided a synopsis:
"Kris is derailed from her life when she is drugged by a small-time thief. But something bigger is going on. She is unknowingly drawn into the life cycle of a presence that permeates the microscopic world, moving to nematodes, plant life, livestock, and back again. Along the way, she finds another being—a familiar, who is equally consumed by the larger force. The two search urgently for a place of safety within each other as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of their wrecked lives."[7]
The film features no dialogue during its final third.”

I'm really excited to see it. I absolutely loved Primer so I have high expectations for this

There was a thread about this on Friday (I think). I'll definitely be checking it out, although the trailers for it have been confusing as frick (which is kinda cool I think). Example, in one trailer he says:
quote:

“I was born with a disfigurement. My head is made of the same material as the sun.”

Oh, and Primer was fantastic.

This movie is now "available" for viewing, interestingly notice "those" comments are mostly negative. I have not seen it yet, but figured it would wind up a polarizing movie from the description.
