Am I the only one who can't stand these? Do they do it just to fill time? Between 4 commercial breaks, the previously on segment, and the next episode segment, that's a good 5 minutes that could have been devoted to more air time.

VH1 perfected this in the 90's with their behind the music series. You have four commercial breaks in the hour. You do a "coming up" tease at the end of each segment and a "recap" at the start of each segment. If each tease/recap is :60, that's eight minutes less footage and content that you have to come up with. Throw in your opening and end titles and you've got 20% of your show that is recycled content.

Not to mention when they come in from the commercial break they repeat what they teased you with.

I didn't even realize I had made 10k. Hell's Kitchen does this a lot too. I can't grab the remote fast enough.
