I hated the Lost finale and absolutely loved the true detective finale. To each their own.

I think a lot of people were expecting some crazy swerve or twist in the last episode, and people were falling over themselves trying to be the one to figure it out.

I loved the beginning [Episodes 1-4] & thought it had a solid ending. Half of the fun with series like this one is discussing it with other fans.

Loved everything about this show but the last episode. Ending wasn't my favorite, and thought it went a little long LOTR style

i don't think a swerve/twist was desired. the show implemented this complex mystery/mythology
that was the reason why people were so engrossed with the show
then it was essentially dropped
so basically if you go back, you eliminate all of the occult/mythology (b/c it is worthless to the overall story with how they ended it), and what is really left? it's honestly just not that interesting without the bait (of the bait and switch)

everyone in those threads has an insane theory and wanted to jerk off to being right about thay theory (even though 90 percent of those theorys were ripped straight from reddit)
when noone was right it turned into all the Theory Fanboys all coming together and shitting on the show because it made them look stupid.

The show ended up being about the characters and their lives. The mystery just gave context. Were people expecting some great magical underground ring to be exposed? There was enough closure to the mystery for the characters to complete their journey. They got their killer. They weren't going to change the world.

Around March if I'm not mistaken.
