Looks fun.

Well, I mean for me not for them.

Looks shitty IMO, but I have a strange affinity for any Everest-related docs or movies - so I'll probably end up watching.

It's got an excellent looking cast. Will most likely watch.

Will watch simply because I've always wanted to climb it and have read tons of books on mountaineering the 7 summits.

Is this based on Into Thin Air (which is incredible if you haven't read it)?

ETA: Yep, looking at the cast. This is based on Jon Krakauer's "Into Thin Air"

Little known DMATB's mountaineering/brag fact: Richard Bass is the first man to climb the 7 summits. He is a Texas oil man. He owns Snowbird ski resort in Utah and a home in Vail, CO. I have stayed at his home in Vail and he signed a copy of his book for me. Also the Vail house was called the "White House of the West" during the Gerald Ford administration as the President spent much of his spare time at Bass' home.

ETA2: HODOR SPOILERS below

Rob Hall is a HERO in the truest sense of the word

I saw the IMAX one that came out years ago with the real interviews with the real people
They made the documentary not knowing all that was going to happen

I read the book "into thin air" years ago - great book. Latest edition of Outside magazine had a article about the movie - filming challenges, getting Hollywood to buy into a "mountain movie" etc. looking forward to it. I'll post a link to a trailer that I found but it might be a duplicate on what's already been posted.

So this is 96?

Hope it is good. Been waiting for a well done mountaineering film for a long time.

Count me in. I read "Into Thin Air" when it first came out and I've watched every mountaineering film I could find, fact or fiction, eversince.
And I hate heights and cold weather.

I can handle the cold, but heights that a totally different story. I couldn't even get out on the invisible floor crap at sears tower in Chicago.

I think it's gonna be watched on demand for me. Even without knowing it was based on a true story, I watched the trailer and thought "well, damn, I know basically everything already".
