It is a very good (and thorough) documentary. It's also not a very new documentary so it includes some interviews with George Harrison.
And it is very, very long.

Yea 4 hours lol but tom is my fav singer/song writer it was an easy watch for me
From the heartbreakers stuff to the solo albums like full moon fever and wildflowers and then the wilburys it's just so many great songs
The only other thing that really comes close for me is the stones and the beatles as far as the amount of great fricking songs

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were essentially a local bar band in Memphis when I was a junior and senior in high school. Only had to be 18 to get into bars and drink back then (19880-82) and since I had a full beard it was no problem getting in. (I was around 30 before I ever got carded for alcohol and not sure whether it was cashier flirting or because cop was in the convenience store at the time then).
It was around 6-9 months after they left Memphis that they released their 1st single.
Those were fun times, what I remember of them anyway.

I am currently doing a rewatch. Watched in one sitting the first time around and enjoyed the heck out of it. It is indeed very in depth.
I especially liked the story from the early '90s where the record company wanted a new single on their greatest hits album, Petty resisted, before finally giving in and recording "Mary Jane's Last Dance." Their greatest hits album went on to sell like 10 million copies. Also, the very last song Stan Lynch cut with them.

Yep lol that's pretty crazy
That song was huge! But at the same time that's the kind of album you buy more then once multiple people I know have 2 or 3 times
It's just a cd that gets a lot of use
parties, going to the springs, car, etc

I started watching this late one night and was really into it but dozed off. When I woke up and saw it was still on I thought I must've had only been out for 45-60 minutes. Nope, it was like 4 hours later and the sun was out.
Soooo unnecessarily long.

If you want even more, XM radio has a Tom Petty channel. It plays a few other artists "curated" by Petty, but it is mostly his stuff.
