I really hate the roll out Warner Bros has been doing. It being released on HBOMAX will hurt its box office. It would be nice for movies like this to succeed so the market isn't flooded with nothing but comic book movies. I believe David Chase said he wouldn't even had made the movie if he knew this was Warner Brothers plan for the release.

Good...not great..it needed to be a limited series to be able to give things more time. One storyline which seemed big never really went anywhere. I enjoyed it but was hoping for better.

Just finished. Really liked it, but it left me unsatisfied; wanting more. It’s just so hard to cram all of the complex storylines and character arcs into 2 hours. I hope Chase delivers another piece of the Sopranos universe after this—perhaps something that connects the ending of tMSON to the beginning of the Sopranos.

Side note—I thought Alessandro Nivola was outstanding as Dickie Moltisanti.

ETA: SPOILER

I found that the movie was more about Dickie than young Tony, although it does kind of show the beginnings of how Tony became who he was. It doesn't really show Tony committing to being a wiseguy, although I guess you could argue that Tony showing up to Holsten's to meet Dickie (after Dickie was shot, unbeknownst to Tony) was the turning point. That's why, the more I think about it, there needs to be a sequel or some other type of miniseries that connects the dots.

I think it would be awesome if they did a spin off series that follows Michael Gandolfini as Tony while he correspondingly ages with the character.

I liked some of the Sopranos easter eggs, like the recreation of the scene where young Tony snuck out to the amusement park to see his dad get arrested, and also where Junior throws out the "Tony doesn't have the makings of a varsity athlete" line in present tense. I got a kick out of those.

I also liked the twist about Junior ordering the hit on Dickie. The audience previously believed, from the Sopranos, that a cop killed Dickie. Classic cover up story by Junior.

Very disappointed. Disjointed snoozefest that tries to pack too much into 2 hours.

Without the Soprano's tie in bringing in legions of biased viewers this would be a real stinker.

eta-Minor things, but the school buses were not correct for the era (too new) and frankly the "riot" at the police station looked like something from a low budget TV show. As said, minor, but just added to the disappointment.

Junior didn't pull the trigger.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Glad I'm not the only one who thought this.

Definitely should have been another TV series, I agree was super rushed and honestly I lost interest half way through

And this is coming from someone who has probably watched the show 4x all the way through
