Damn, can’t remember last time I saw a slasher like that.

I don’t even really like slashers for the most part but i thought this did an excellent job and mixed things up enough.

It’s not as tongue in cheek as I would have expected. It’s mostly pretty serious.

Biggest problem for me is I thought the movie was a little too mean spirited at times or a bit too gory for my personal taste. If you do like that stuff though, this is extremely well done.

The movie feels kinda traumatic to watch.

And there are lots of jump scares.

I haven't seen it yet, but I plan on it.

I mean, i can handle blood in movies fine. I think some of the things that happen were just really I don’t want to see.

Can you spoil what the trampoline murder was. Because from the preview it just looked like a girl was jumping on a trampoline and then he stuck a knife through the tarp that we are to assume she lands on with her foot.

Spoilers……

Yes, she lands and it goes through her foot and then she lands and it goes through another piece of her and then she lands and it goes through her stomach. One of the tamer kills

Because it's an homage to the diseased slasher video nasties of the late '70s/early '80s.

Just got out. It was a lot of fun. Eli Roth said he’s always had a thing for holiday horror, and Thanksgiving was the only major holiday that didn’t have a horror movie. It’s fun to watch a movie that you know the director is having a blast making, even if it takes a huge loss.

If this slasher was too much for you please by all means stay away from Terrifier 2

I was told terrifier 1 was worse than terrifier 2.

And while I think that clown is amazing, yes, I didn’t like some things in terrifier 1.

I started watching terrifier 2 but my dog… didn’t want us to watch that

When they were making the Grindhouse movie he created a fake trailer called Thanksgiving. He also did one for Machete and later made that movie. He finally made the Thanksgiving one

The original Thanksgiving fake trailer by Eli Roth

Terrifier 2 is a waaay better movie, and the bigger budget definitely upgraded the special effects and makeup. I’d say the bedroom scene is worse than the hacksaw scene in the first.

Gotta give the director props. Practical gore effects are coming back!

Thoughts on Thanksgiving

Turkey and dressing should be served.
Turkey with Stuffing should also be served. These are two completely different dishes.
Green Bean Casserole must be served.
Mashed Potatoes (real mashed potatoes that are preferably sort of lumpy).
Those packaged rolls with the three lines in the top are a must.

And if you are lucky and aren't hosting, hopefully your inlaws or sister or mom or whomever will hand you a cool whip container when you are leaving filled with some of all of the above. (Stole that one from Matt Michell)

These are my thoughts.

Wife and I went a few days ago and I thought it was fun. Wife was pretty grossed out. I’ll have to make it up to her somehow

It was a tad overboard with the gore but what can you expect? It’s Eli Roth. It wasn’t mind blowing but it had enough black comedy and thrills to make me want to rewatch it every Thanksgiving considering the lack of movies the Holliday has already. It’s a fun, turn your mind off slasher.

Just finished it, fun horror movie in the traditional slasher sense. I had no idea Eli Roth did it till the end. We will see more of the Carver for sure in Plymouth!

This is now out on Netflix and I watched it last night.

I LOVED it. Roth mixed a mid-90s/early 00s slasher with 80s-style kills. Sure, there were some noticeable plot holes, but the mix of genres was just awesome!
