I didn't think it was anywhere near the quality of Margin Call or Midnight in Paris.

Honestly I didn't care for Drive or Midnight in Paris. Drive because Gosling was not a real person in any sense. It seemed like an attempt to remake Shane in a modern setting but it really didn't work for me.

Midnight in Paris was just too easy, shallow, and lazy a movie. The boorish Americans were cliches,
Hemmingway got annoying, and I never bought into Owen Wilson as legitimately a good author or anyone to care about for that matter. I love Paris but cinematography alone can't make a movie.

To be fair I didn't hate them and they are better than 80% of the movies being made but I'd just as soon have my 2 hours back.

watched this movie recently due to all the buzz on TD. regardless if i liked it or not, i have a question, what was the deal with have some sort of "party" in a shitty pizzeria with chicks dressed up in heels and fancy dresses. did i miss something or was the situation forced to make the scene? (sorry if already discussedd, but i could only "search" through so much shite posted)

I LOVED this movie to death the first time I saw it. Understood the entire sociopath thing. The transformation from machine to man and back to machine via the soundtrack. All of that. Got it, and loved it.

Then I watched it two more times and it started to bug the hell out of me. The drawn out stares and quiet moments are just too long, and there are too many of them.

Thought the movie was awesome... I feel like the people that hate this movie probably listen to pop music, wear whitey tighties, drive Priuses, and prefer Pixar movies.

Good Action - check
Good Soundtrack - check
Big Tities - check

Not a "action movie" per say, but It had a couple of good car chases and shootouts/violent scenes...

exactly how I felt. I loved it BTW. Not the greatest movie ever but keeps me entertained on many fronts, especially the soundtrack.

He's not doing the "distant loner thing." He's doing the "I'm a fricking sociopath who has no idea how to interact with a normal person" thing. The pauses are supposed to be very awkward. The Driver has to think so hard about what a "normal" person would say or do in "normal" situations, that it takes him a while to formulate his thoughts. It's awkward, and you can see his wheels turning for too long before he acts. When he almost freaks out on the guy in the coffee shop, that's really him.
