I disagree with you, at least regarding the first Thor film. I thought it was fantastic. It’s true that the storyline was pretty heavy, but it was less a superhero movie than a story of power struggle within the Asgardian royal family. It was more about sibling rivalry than anything else. When you look at who directed it (Kenneth Branaugh), it’s no wonder that the movie feels very Shakespearean at times.

I enjoyed both Thor films. He is my favorite character in the universe and I think Hemsworth nails the role.

I think the first two Thors, while not masterpieces in any regard, are better than Iron Man 1-2.

Just my opinion though, I think they get a lot of unwarranted hate.

CA: Winter Soldier

There's a reason why Captain America: Winter Soldier and Iron Man are the only two exceptional MCU films.

1) They both knew how to balance the humor and dramatic gravitas
2) They were both written and put together very well

The only thing I didn't like about Winter Soldier was the Nick Fury death fake out.

EDIT: I also hold Spider-Man: Homecoming in high regard as it too managed to balance the humor and drama effectively.

Generally speaking, I’ve enjoyed all of the Marvel movies, and Thor is a favorite movie character of mine.

But I don’t like Marvel’s recent trend of going too comedic. I think certain characters have that potential, but not everyone has to have the super-power of pithy punchlines. Lately it seems as though virtually every character is a master of the one-liner.

Short version: some comedy = good. Too much comedy = not as good, for me.
