So, I understand that Darryl is not in the comics. For those of you that read the comics, do you think that given Darryl's popularity in the show Kirkman will ever introduce him in the comics?

I believe Kirkman already said he wouldn't, though he could always change his mind.

I don't know what the point would be. The whole reason that Daryl is so popular was the evolution of his character as basically a lacky for his arse of a brother who didn't care for anyone other than said brother, to being one of the most trusted people in the group who now has taken it upon himself to feel responsible for everyone else. I think that it is too late to introduce his character in the comics unless they just expect everyone to already know his story from the tv show. To me that would be somewhat of an easy copout for them.

At 148 you're caught up.

Congrats on joining the few and the somewhat knowledgeable. From now on you'll be able to still tune into something new each Sunday without wondering what the hell is happening, but still being surprised.

Thanks haha. Definitely hooked on them now. Has this thread already talked about everything that's gone on in the comics? Haven't really scrolled thru all 90 pages but wanted to see how everybody felt about all the shite that recently Happened in the past 10 or so issues

Just finished reading all the comics so far. Ready for issue 150. shite will go down.

Curious to see how they portray Negan in the show. He is such an evil person, but probably one of my favorite in the comics. Such a witty little bastard. Plus, he curses like a damn sailor.

So #150 we kind of a let down when you compare it to #100. I was expending something epic since the company that ships me the new issues made me buy two copies, one with a blank cover.

I read it earlier this week. I was expecting it to be a little bigger than it was but they are setting up a major showdown with the Whisperers. The militization of the group is an interesting arc to follow right now. My favorite part was ******************SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT YET**************************************

when Rick told them not to clean him up. He wanted the people to see what their own did to him. It's becoming pretty clear that Negan is getting off by watching Rick become just like him.

It was definitely a good issue, but I hyped it up too much. I do feel it got us back on track, because ever since the heads on stakes issue, we've been kind of wandering around aimlessly just being sad and depressed. And I definitely agree with your take on Rick and Negan. One of the best things Kirkman has done in the series is keep Negan alive. He is a cold, calculating SOB and I can't wait to see whatever he really has planned come to light. Also can't wait to see him on the show. That casting was perfect.

And frick it, I'm still calling him Nay-gin.

I've put a lot of thought into Negan's motive ever since he sat in the cell when the door was unlocked and never left. I think he realized his army was likely dismantled and rather than starting over he'd see if he could make Rick his puppet. That seems to be what is happening with issue 150. Kirkman can go in a bunch of different directions with all of this.

I read it, and I think it was sort of a let-down as well. Nothing really happened. In the letters page Kirkman said he's been in a funk lately, and he said it like it was a joke but I think he was being serious. 150 just seemed lazy. I mean, they went back to the Rick biting someone's neck off bit. Come on, really?

I'm just getting a little bored with the comic right now. I'm sure once the whisperers storyline really gets going I'll be excited again.

I was definitely expecting more for 150. It was basically a setup issue.

I looked at it like Rick has been really soft lately compared to the Rick that bit the neck of that bandit 100 issues ago. This was just a sign that that Rick was coming back. But yeah, it definitely read like a set up issue rather than a meat & potatoes issue.

Let's be honest, the comic has been pretty bad for a while now. I've been selling my single issues on eBay (and doing pretty well with them) and before shipping them off, I do a read through of each issue.

I'm basically where the show left off, with Tommy saying "mommy" in the middle of the zombies, in terms of re-reading. I have read the complete run about 5 times.

Anyway, the writing is poor, but Kirkman has never been a good writer when compared to the GOAT comic authors (like Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Brian K. Vaughn to name a few). The dialogue is cheesy. The characters in the comic act weird. One frame they are freaking out on someone and the next they are laughing.

One panel had Maggie lose her shite at Glenn for wanting to go outside their home in Alexandria because of a gunshot. The next panel he told her he had to go. And the next panel was her smiling and saying something like "oh gee sorry for being so silly." I know it's a comic and you are limited in words, but it's awkward.

The comic has jumped the shark numerous times, but lands on its feet gracefully. But it's had some great moments.

Great Moments:
- Entire run up to the farm
- Entire Prison run and Governor
- Negan (briefly)
- Start of the Alexandria saga

Stupid Moments:
- nonchalantly cutting of Rick's hand
- Carl becoming two-face
- Abraham dying in the lamest way possible
- Ezekial and the stupid tiger
- Post Negan when the comic decided to jump ahead 5 years

I agree with everything you said. If we get old Rick back it may make a turn for the better, but it's pretty bad right now.

The whole Negan thing was cool for a while but it was dragged out way too long. I didn't mind Abraham's death because sometimes people just die, but it did seem like an anticlimactic end for a main character.

The comic definitely peaked with the governor storyline and it seems desperate to try to get back to that level.
