need to refresh my memory.

This is Rhaegar with the long hair? Right after the mad king died? Trying to remember why they are at the tower of Joy?

If you need your memory refreshed on this you may need to see if you actually read this book series or if it was another one.

Maybe a top 3 most important scene in the entire series.

The guy on the Horse is Ned/Eddard Stark. His sister Lyanna is inside the Tower of Joy after she was "taken" by Rhaegar and Rhaegar was killed on the Trident. Protected by Kingsguard. For some reason.

In fact, I'm willing to bet, that at some point, they do an entire episode of flashback, history to the War. Show the Trident, the ToJ, the death of the Mad King, etc.

Thanks a-hole... I just came and now these pants are ruined

No one ever said playing the GoT was without risk.

Martin's actually gone on record that he wishes they would deal with the flashbacks, visions, and history on the show, but time is obviously an issue.

I don't see how they could get around it with Cersei's backstory. They have to do it then.

Not if they stuck to the dream Ned had in GOT. It would be no different than any other scene. We never witnessed any fighting in his dream

Yeah, that's all they had to do. Just show the tower, Lyana dying (only show her face), and then the "Promise me, Ned". Wouldn't have to make it extravagant really.

Since the moment for ToJ scene has passed, maybe the writers for the show plan on pressing R+L=J with TKotLT first...?

Oh wait. No Reed kids.

Can still be done I guess

EETA: I just remembered they missed another opportunity in the house of the Undying...

Really obvious they are shying away from it deliberately

I've read in several places that the writers have stated they WILL NOT include flashbacks on the show...

I don't think that means we'll never see ToJ/ KotLT,"The dragon has three heads", etc, but it will be in the context of a narrative or relaying of the story from one character to the other...

I would LOVE to get my hands on the pilot, though, just to see what could've been...these pics haunt me...

(For those not familiar)
quote:

"...a notable scene cut was a flashback scene featuring the execution of Brandon Stark at the hands of the Mad King." Actors were cast for this scene and it was filmed, even appearing in some trailers, but ultimately was not used. The scene did not even appear on DVD or Blu-Ray releases of the season.

I can't help but think this was a bone of contention between GRRM and the writers of the show/director of S1 ep1...apparently the director of the pilot had every intention of using flashbacks...

Though that looks nothing like how they described Brandon. Too old and too much like Ned IMO.

Before reading the description after just looking at the pictures I was trying to figure out when Ned got his arse beat in the throne room.

I believe that is Ned watching his dad and bro die. I am not sure I understand why he was allowed to live in that scene. Im not sure how letting Lyana Stark die and not see her brother is protecting the heir at the TOJ.
