The Three-Hour Extended Cut of Superman: The Movie Is Finally Getting a Home Release
quote:
Back in February 1982, ABC’s two-night broadcast of Superman: The Movie was an unprecedented extension of the theatrical release of the film. The three-hour-long version of the movie featured footage never seen before, giving fans longer looks at Krypton before its destruction, more time in Smallville, even more of John Williams’ iconic soundtrack, and more of Christopher Reeves in action as the Man of Steel.

No release date for the collection has been confirmed yet, other than it’s coming this year. But fans have been waiting 35 years to see this bumper-sized edition of the movie again—what’s a few more months of waiting in comparison?

And Julianne Moore taps into Superman: The Movie for her Kingsman villain.
quote:
“Well you know, it's interesting because I realized that when I read it right away the first person I thought of was Gene Hackman in Superman, which is a movie I grew up with.” Moore said. “I can remember, I remember very clearly Gene Hackman and Valerie Perrine in that like lair, in that cave and how ordinary they seemed, how their concerns seemed real and they were always fighting and there was all this kind of stuff happening I thought that's kind of how I saw this. Here's this person who's a villain, she's a megalomaniac, she's trying to control the world but she just wants what anybody would want.”
quote:
“She wants legitimacy,” More said. “She wants to be acknowledged for her business prowess, you know? So, the idea of having that kind of this huge outsized world and this outsized ego but with fairly -- well I guess normal behavior is not quite what it is -- but human behavior, that was interesting to me.”
