Good flick, but terribly overrated on this board. Preferred Memento

I'll be checking it out. I actually watched both Inception and Interstellar this weekend, and enjoyed both.

I watched it for the first time about a month ago. Couldn't believe how great the movie was.

Yeah, I don't get this "easily Nolan's best" nonsense. Memento still exists. I can see thinking either is his best, but arguing that one is far and away his best film is way overstating the case.

But I think Memento is the greatest movie ever made, not just Nolan's best.

I think it's easily better than Memento. Yes, easily...as in by a lot.

And I loved Memento. I just think Prestige is that good.

I think Memento is one of the most original and groundbreaking films of all time and I love it.

But for me, I just turn into a giddy fanboy when I describe the Prestige

Great movie. One of my favorite Hugh Jackman movies.

I think the best way I can put it is whenever I rewatch Memento, I can now build a pretty coherent narrative of exactly what I think happened.

I'm STILL trying to fully understand The Prestige.

Does the book go into any more detail on the following:

[MAJOR SPOILER for those that haven't seen it]

Does the book provide any further details that would lead us to believe that the machine actually worked, or that this science fiction type of element was just used to trick the audience.

No doubt. Amazing how great it is after several viewings. You pick up new things everytime.

Yeah, don't know how I missed that post above.

I don't even fully understand the question....of course the machine worked. That was kinda the point of the whole movie.

The Prestige is not overrated. If anything it's incredibly underrated because it may be one of the best movies of all time...period.

Top 5 movie.

Sometimes I wonder if it is in fact my favorite of all time movie. The fact that I ponder this tells me that it, in fact, is my favorite all time movie.

Nolan's best. No debate.

The Prestige is Nolan's masterpiece and even Nolan has admitted this much. It's a very personal film to he and his brother.

From Cutter at the very end of the movie:

quote:

Now you’re looking for the secret. But you won’t find it because of course, you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.

I'm just wondering if there are any thoughts out there, that the movie is a trick in itself. I just asked if the book went into anymore detail on that.

Yes, on the surface it looks like it worked. But you know, Christopher Nolan always has twists and wants you to think after the movie is over with.
