It's been coming on for a few weeks. This is the 4th episode I believe, but don't hold me to that. I only watched the first episode about TV.

I was really looking forward to these but CNN makes EVERYTHING about race and sex... I couldn't watched. Should've known.

Some of it.

The reunification of germany and the dissolution of the soviet union were more important overall than nirvana, rodney king, or monica lewinsky. Public attention is just more easily captivated by beatings, blowjobs, and blue musicians than world changing events. The rise of the internet and artificial intelligence was also a 90s thing that might even dwarf the end of the cold war 100 years from now.

CNN gave bill Clinton a much longer and better blowjob in this than Monica Lewinsky ever could

So you watched the one episode that was specifically about race relations and decided that the rest of the series would be the same?

And they did an entire episode about the end of the Cold War and the changing global landscape that resulted. And they did an episode last night all about technology and the boom of the internet.

No. Even the TV episode was draped in racial overtones. They had a big piece on how the 90s finally gave blacks a real presence on TV, with Arsenio in the late night mix, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Martin all on the major networks. But then, Arsenio left, and the plethora of black shows shut down and how horrible it was that there weren't any shows for black folk to associate with, or to give their point of view.

pretty small fraction of the show and all of that was stuff that happened in that time period. Would you have preferred they ignored it?

Pretty hard to do an honest essay on 90's TV and overlook all of that. Arsenio threatening Carson was a huge deal. FOX, WB, and UPN making their bones on black audiences was a huge deal.

That would be like doing the episode on tech and the internet and omitting the part about porn paving the way for internet commerce. "CNN is focusing on sex!" Well, shite, that's who got people paying for stuff online. You have to say something about it.

I get that, but to make it be like when those things disappeared that they didn't have anything to watch, that it was all evil whitey and his corporations making money off of them.

No, if the people watching the shows actually bought the products being advertised, maybe the shows would have stayed around.

You understand I was disputing the person I replied to (who argued it was all about race and sex)? In your response you seem to miss that central point.
