After a rare unsuccessful fundraising event at LDL in Lake Charles yesterday, I decided to rewatch this to deepen my depression. And it did not disappoint.
and it's even better on the rewatch, fyi. Great performances all the way around.
I remember watching this week by week when it first aired wondering what the frick this should could/would be about, and it really did round into fantastic form by the end.
And the fricking score is beautiful, to boot. I mean, listen to this...how great is this? LINK

As we're only given tiny morsels of this story - in little drips at a time (sort of Lost-style) - the acting was the only thing that hooked me.
And it is - some of the best acting, across the board, on television today - 8 to 10 deep, easily, in the first season. I always liked Theroux, but thought he was moving to more behind the camera stuff. Judging Amy is very good (all the GR as they have to act without speaking) - and Eccleston is probably the best actor on the show - really outstanding.

Loved this show and it's slow burn delivery. The Preacher episode hooked me.
Any update on when season 2 premiers?

I need to give this show another shot. I watched the first two episodes as they aired and I just kind of forgot about it. I think I'll enjoy it more in a binge watch.

FWIW-Episode 3 is the one that got me hooked.

The preacher ep is amazing.
Although I have general praise for the entire cast, Theroux and Eccleston (the preacher, Matt) are the main reasons to watch the show.
I would say that, of the main cast, Tyler and Qualley are the "weakest" links and they've held their own, or better.

The show started out kind of slow but the last 3 episodes were fricking brilliant. I'm more excited for this show to come back than any other on television right now.

I read that the main cast ( Garveys, Liv Tyler, Preacher & Nora) will all return but that's it.
Will take place in Texas as well.
So it will be interesting to see where they go with it

When does season 2 come out, June or so? This was one of my favorite shows, but one that I would have trouble recommending to many people

I haven't seen any promos for it. I think it aired late last summer.

Damon Lindelof should probably be used to his work dividing people by now, after the variation in reactions to the Lost TV series finale and his Prometheus screenplay; his and Tom Perrotta’s HBO show, The Leftovers, prompted similar love/hate responses throughout its first season earlier this year. However, now that the TV series has burnt though most of Perrotta’s original source material with its debut ten-episode run, it makes sense that Leftovers (according to new reports) will be undergoing something of a partial reboot, for its sophomore season in 2015.
Leftovers season two will reportedly move the action away from season one’s setting, the fictional small town of Mapleton, New York; not so surprising, really, seeing how season one wrapped up with the Guilty Remnant cult having finally made its “grand gesture,” prompting the town to descend into chaos at last following a season of locals’ temperates maintaining a low-simmer boil. So, now that the citizens of Mapleton have finally broken their fever (and Mapleton’s GR chapter may be finished in full), we’ll see how other places have been handling the mysterious disappearance of 2% of the world’s population.
