I liked season 3, b/c Peter Sarsgaard was fantastic. Season 4 was truly awful.

The first season started off good. Then the season finale was a big raised upper middle finger to the audience. The second season had all this implausible political stuff -- you ain't gonna get elected mayor of any city if within a month or so you get arrested for the murder of a teenage girl, end up in a wheelchair after a shooting and admit to a recent suicide attempt. After that crap, I didn't even want to fool with the third and fourth seasons.
