The IT miniseries was terrible

Just finished the book and watched the miniseries.
While the miniseries remained fairly accurate to a degree in terms of plot, there's just so much of just bad decision making.
Both characters that portray Bill do a bad job, but especially the older Bill. They turned him just straight into a melodramatic a-hole. With a fricking ponytail.
They turn adult Richie into a coward.
Beveraly is fine except
Curry is very good as Pennywise
They never touched on the strength their minds over pennywise. The entire book led up to the trial of Chudd and they never even attempt to do anything about it

Well it was a TV miniseries. It should have been at least a 2 part movie of Godfather length with an r rating and they still couldnt have touched on all that 1000 page masterpiece had.
Was my 1st SK book.
I agree that the characters were a bit overdone but i think that was intentional so people would remember who is who once they were adults. Its easy to know if you read the books but most people have not.

It is Ritual of CHUDD
And they did the did story fine, but adult story was dumb. Even final boss/spider...
Need Turtle and Evil for that mythos as well.

I mean, it was a miniseries from 1990. What level of quality do you really expect? I do think the first half is pretty good for its era, but once it becomes about the adults, it totally falls apart.

Beep Beep, Richie.
Yeah, I was embarrassed when the TV series came out.
Tim Curry was a pleasant bright spot in that pile of manure, tho.

It was a terrifying TV movie for its time. It was sort of a big deal. It probably doesn't hold up well and I've never read the book. Of course books are almost always better anyway.

Well damn. I'm halfway through the book right now, and I was going to watch the miniseries after the book.
