The movie is extremely inaccurate for the most part (I still thought it was a fine movie for what it was), Kerry's height is the last thing that anybody that knows the story should care about.. although J Allen White might've played a pretty good Chris (I always pictured Jonah Hill playing that part though).

For you guys that think Allen White is a bad fit who in Hollywood is close enough to Kerry’s size and can act well enough to pull off the the Role?
Well not just that, everyone else would have to be to scale as well. The casting difficulty is pretty apparent when you dig into it.

Dont know really anything about the background of this movie because it was a little before my time but man what a depressing movie. To hear they also had another brother commit suicide is just crazy. Hard to believe Kevin made it out having to go through that much trauma. Only negative is the actor who played Flair. They should have just rolled the original footage of the promo instead of letting him act it out

The Flair actor couldn't even get the Woo right.

Growing up during this as a (more or less) fan…WCCW came on either Saturday or Sunday evenings, and this was before cable and a million channels so viewing options were limited.
David dying was a bolt from the blue sky. But my recollection is he hadn’t been on as much, perhaps making the rounds in the other territories.
During the heyday it was mainly Kerry and Kevin, often allied with Chris Adams, and often against The Freebirds (that Michael PS Hayes just thought he was all that!). Mike was in the mix later but didn’t really mesh, scrub matches, and mostly 2 or 3 man tag team matches. Chris came later but was always an awkward fit and didn’t wrassle long before his death.

David was definitely the best worker of the family - he was 25 and was almost a perfect package as what NWA would have wanted as a wrestler.. his solo matches with Flair are incredible for crowd heat. The other brothers were helped out a lot by working so much with the Freebirds, Gordy was one of the best workers in the world before his overdose and Michael Hayes had insane charisma as a heel.

Also movie just straight up ignores the youngest and sixth brother Chris - who shot himself in the head at 21
(yes, movies take liberties with facts - I know how the industry works, I'm just saying)

Early screenings said he wasn't that good in the role.
"The acting was good in some cases, but the guy who played Fritz (Holt McCallany) wasn’t good

Wonder if Kevin Von Erich was involved? Will definitely watch it.

He was.. you do know early screenings are very different from the final product.

You are just reiterating exactly what I said -- and it's Von Erich

Granted he was drugged out, but he was really terrible as the Texas Tornado.. I can't think of a good singles match in his WWF run, maybe Hennig carried him in the title change but it couldn't have been that good because that's the best I can come up with and barely remember it

I will say that they absolutely miscast Ric Flair. That was the worst Ric Flair I've ever seen.

He lost his foot in 1986 and wrestled until 1992.. that's six years - he didn't exactly have the workrate of Will Ospreay before he lost it.

He didn't - the family wasn't on set and didn't see the movie until about a month ago.
He has nixed scripts in the past, but A24 must have good lawyers or something.

Like 99% of movies based on actual events take liberties with the actual story.. I know this, what's your point

You do know people don't always die from overdoses right?
LINK
"During a flight to Japan in 1993 for one of his frequent All Japan tours, Gordy would allegedly take roughly 50 pain pills, resulting in an overdose on the flight that left him in a coma. It would be five days before Gordy emerged from this coma, unfortunately with permanent brain damage."

David had been making the rounds to other territories immediately before going to Japan. The later half of 83 he was in St. Louis and west Texas a good bit.

The alliance with Chris Adams came about after Mike died. He was teaming with Kerry and Kevin before Kerry went to the WWF.

Yes. Mike never really had any solo feuds.

Chris made his debut right before Kerry left for WWF in 1990. He was hurt a lot during his brief career He was only wrestling about a year before he killed himself. I don't remember him ever wrestling anybody that wasn't Percy Pringle. In tag matches whenever Pringle's partner tagged in, Chris would tag in Chris Adams.
