Tell me again why the hackers are pissed that Sony released this particular movie?

I've been too busy re-educating lefties about OPEC, Russia, Gruber, and waterboarding to follow this.

TIA

Because the hackers are North Korean agents, and the movie is about assassinating Kim Jong whatever

Obvious viral marketing campaign is obvious.

What a bunch of pussies. The people in charge of these theaters should be kicked in the balls repeatably and then kicked out of the country for being too big of cowards to stand up for liberty. As if I needed another reason to hate AMC.

The movie looks terrible, but now I want to see it on general principle. This is ludicrous.

Also, I'd like to report that I saw a preview for The Interview before Nightcrawler this past weekend and the theater did not explode. I'd be interested to see if they actually take the time to pull the trailers...

I don't think so. The release of thousands of really embarrassing emails from Sony makes me think this is legit.

As has been pointed out, the theater chains are not "Hollywood"

AMC was founded in and is still based in Kansas for example.

nah, I'm pretty sure this is legit lol. none of these theater chains want another Aurora situation on their hands. I guess we aren't too far off from having security checkpoints at movie theaters....

It does empower them regardless of who the hackers represent or who they are

So much for demonstrating American freedom to the rest of the globe. Nope, we will censor ourselves under duress...sucks

Flame away, but the people that made this decision are gutless cowards.

Whether they're in California, Topeka, or Tokyo is irrelevant.

Well, Sony did get hacked and a bunch of stuff they didn't want out in the public was put out there. I guess that the major movie theater companies want no part of getting hacked now, so I guess that's why they are pulling the movie.

But with that said, now the precedent has been set that these companies can now be threatened and they will fold like cheap tents.
