When he had him on the roof as the guy was down there with the powertool, were a few close calls there.

Well it was a poli board thread so I took it with an entire salt shaker. Still, a huge contrast from what people here are saying.

When in reality, it's one step above a "movie of the week" on a network channel.
I liked them both and they are good films, not best picture quality but way above average. I'm guessing AS is the film that gets shite on this year because the non buffs seem to like it in droves. The Hootie effect will bite you in the arse every time.

I prefer AS over the other two. I did enjoy the Lone Survivor but after the shooting started the rest of the movie was nothing but a running gun battle.
It's been a while since I've seen the Hurt Locker so I can't really recall much, but I remember thinking it was "just alright"
I also really liked Cooper's acting. He did a great job of making you forget that he was a celebrity. Didn't feel that as much with Mark.

Hurt Locker reminded me of Full Metal Jacket
There is message in there...just not sure what they are trying to say

Cooper was better than any performance in the others movies.

A bunch of "Murica, frick yeah!" types, but no serious movie fans are saying that.

I'll admit that I went a bit over the top with my comment above. But I really don't get the praise that this film is receiving. It's extremely average and isn't even the best war drama from '14 [Fury & '71 are better films imo].

I gained respect for Shia in this film. Apparently he didn't shower for three weeks and it pissed of Pitt.

Pretty much sums up your insufferable douchiness on this board.

American Sniper felt like it was rushed and they didn't really go through editing and polish it up.
Hurt Locker had all that.

I have no interest in seeing American Sniper, but I did not like The Hurt Locker.

I agree with this. This board seems to be a little harsh on AS. I thought it was very different than the other war movies that it's being compared to. Different in a good way.

From the point of view of being a veteran, Hurt Locker is an unrealistic piece of crap. American Sniper did a much better job of showing the real mentality of what it was like to deal with the war and PTSD.
Posted on 1/25/15 at 11:05 am to RogerTheShrubber
The Hurt Locker was absolute garbage - just incredibly unrealistic. At least American Sniper was mostly plausible.

No hyperbole there.
I thought it was a good movie, but I've noticed that while many are enthusiastically praising it, there are also many going to extremes to tear it apart and devalue it.
