What was I thinking?

Just terrible. Turned it on last night thinking it might be kind of a fun Friday night movie. Had to turn it off half way through (a 2 hour movie).

It's sander/spade so I wasn't expecting a ton acting wise but this thing was shot like a low budget soft porn but without the porn.

I disagree. It was one of Sandler's better movies of late. When I watch a Sandler movie, I go into it expecting a Sandler movie, and not some award winning flick though. I thought this film actually showed a thought process and produced a decent plot. To each his own.

I tried to watch it based on mostly positive reviews from this board and its 4 star rating on Netflix.

Wrong decision. Never finished it. Boring and not even remotely funny.

I thought it was rather good, several moments had me laughing. Was it his best work, no but it was far from his worst or near worst.

It had most of the standard Sandler movie formula ingredients but it just wasn't up to par, even as low as the standard to judge him has fallen. I think the problem was that Spade, another quirky character, was the supporting character. The Sandler movies that have worked best usually have a girl next door love interest as the main supporting character.

there were a few parts I thought were pretty funny but on the whole it was meh.

the story was kind of choppy and it seemed like they half assed the production from the script stage on up through the editing.
