Has it been discussed how Batman and Rachel come away uninjured after they fall from a penthouse window and crush a taxi? This part always irritates me because it takes away from Batmans vulnerability.

Uninjured? That should have killed them

Completely agree. That would of killed the Batman I think of.

That has always bothered me, too. Also, as much as I loved the interrogation scene, when the Joker told Batman the locations of Dent and Rachel, there's no way he could have realistically known that there would be just enough time for Batman to save one of them but not enough time for the police to save the other.

That said, still one of my favorite movies.

One of my most hated movie tropes. somehow all of the car manufactureres have colluded in the design of the roofs of all cars now so that they are like stunt man air bags. So stupid.

I always took it as Joker set it up where opening one door to save one detonated the other.

Always took it as the cape material slowed their fall and that the outfit absorbed the bulk of the impact.

I'm more disturbed that at that point, we're led to believe Bruce and Rachrl just leave. Ummm, dude, there is still a homicidal maniac upstairs with your guests. Might want to take care of that.

Always assumed the cape slowed him down and the suit armor absorbed the residual blow, and the Joker got away.

More importantly, Batman is now street level, uninjured, and the Joker and all his henchmen are trapped in a penthouse full of innocent civilians. How did a hostage negotiation stand off or at the very least a fight outside the elevator not occur?

He did have access to Wayne's helicopter which was right outside.

The cowl modulates the voice. Explained in the Batman Begins extras.
