The Beguiled - Did I miss something?

Wife dragged me to see this one last night (I was trying for Baby Driver). Has anyone seen this? Did I miss something with it? Felt like a plot was going to develop at any second but never seemed to happen.

Got lucky yesterday. Two couples go to theater. The wives go see this while us men go see baby driver. Next time bring a wingman so you don't have to sit through that shite. Getting back to the movie, the wife said the same thing. She kept waiting for it to develop. Then she realized it wasn't because it was only 90 minutes long.
