"The Americans" Question

I'm only on season 2, but do they ever let up with the "ohhhh the American people are crazy and hate freedom (communism)" and constantly making American people out to look like fools bullshite?
I get that it's a show about Russian spies in the US, but it's already getting a little annoying? Granted, I wasn't around during the Cold War so I might not be privy to the exact feelings both countries had for each other.

I definitely don't get the feeling the show is anti American. There are obvious biases involved, but I don't think it makes Americans look bad.
But to answer your question, you will see a change in attitude for several different characters.

I'm only on season 1 but I definitely don't see anything like that at all; at least from Phillip. I think if anything it seems that they like their life in America, and don't mind Americans and their way of life (even if they aren't willing to admit it).

I just have a hard time believeing that many high ranking officials in like DOD, etc. would be willing to give info to Soviets.
