Why is this still a thing?

Some current shows like Once Upon a Time can somehow have the entire new season up on Hulu.

Yet I'm trying to watch: The Flash and Gotham to name two and Hulu has the most recent 5 episodes only. Then I go over to visit my mom who has Suddenlink on demand and it has only ONE episode of each of these.

When will this stop being a thing, and why do some networks/shows do it right while others don't?

I am a paying subscriber to hulu and even if I was a cable subscriber there is no legal way for me to watch these two shows from the beginning. So I must resort to downloading torrents and using my ps4 to view them.

This seems backwards and less than ideal. Here you can have the latest 5 episodes, but if you want to watch the beginning of the season, wait months till after it airs, or go steal it somewhere.

Like that makes sense. What is the deal with this, does anyone know?

Some of the networks have their own subscription services and they only offer full seasons with their own service.

Some don't put any of their shows online except through their service. Some offer a few episodes on their site then the rest through subscription.

I don't see that changing anytime soon. I guess they feel they can make more money on their own and until that changes, they will only give partial seasons.

I'm not sure who it paying a network, just for a few shows. Too much content on Amazon, Netflix and Hulu for me to then pay another subscription for a few network shows.
