This, but I thought Palpatine hinted at that he was the one who created Anakin. When he told Anakin the story of Darth Palagus (sp?) he said something along the lines of being able to create life with the force.

Palpatine told him the story of Darth Plagus, which Palpatine was his apprentice obviously. His story was about being able to bring someone back to life. And how ironic while he could save others from dying, he couldn't save himself.
But he was able to influence the force and therefor create life. As they did with general greevis.
