Spinoff: What actor alongside Sandler would have made Do-Over a good film?

I see what Spade is trying to do, but can't help but think Chris Farley would have made it epic. Sandler is decent, and the writing isn't awful.
Spade just can't play that role.
thoughts?

I thought Spade was fine, and people tend to really overrate Farley. I like the guy, but if Melissa Mccarthy is the "fat fall down lady" of today, Farley was the man that made it big money 20 years ago and couldn't act at all.

I think Farley had more dimensions than those who were kids, or casual fans, at the time seem to recall

Those guys were all stars and funny in their own right, but in the mid 90's you could tell studios were on board to make Farley a leading comedy guy. Farley was an extremely bankable star turning shite like Beverly Hills Ninja into money.

Yeah how can anyone forget her only other skill of using frick and shite in place of actual punch lines

I always wondered how good chris Farley would have been in all of adam sandlers movies. He was in some of his early movies but Adams movies didn't start rolling until after farleys death. When I watch water boy, the wedding singer, big daddy, that's my boy, and mr deeds I always thought Farley would have been a great character on those movies.

at you for even considering comparing Chris Farley is shitty Melissa McCarthy.

Ehh.. his movies did ok but they weren't exactly killing it either. Only Black Sheep made the top 50 highest grossing films the year it came out (@ #50, TB - 54, BHN - 67)
In fact, his solo flicks never made more than $32.6 million theaters.
Tommy Boy - $32.6 million
Black Sheep - $32.4 million
Beverly Hills Ninja - $32.4 million ($18 million budget)
Almost Famous - $6.4 million ($30 million budget)
I am having trouble finding budget info on TB and BS but I think we can assume the budgets for those two were around $8-$12 million each based off a few factors. First, another SNL alumni Lorne Micheals flick Billy Madison cost $10 million to make (and made just $26m in theaters!) and Happy Gilmore cost $12 million (making $41 million). Second Farley was basically contractually forced into doing BS so he and Spade's bargaining power likely wasn't very high. Finally, the budget for BHN was $18 million which makes it very unlikely TB or BS could have possibly been more.
Odds are the only two that were outright successes at the BO were TB and BS. With BHN, after the theater splits, it's likely any profit had to come from home video and broadcast licensing. AH was a straight up bomb.
Honestly, if we are talking about box office success as a principle cast member, McCarthy is much closer to Sandler than she is Farley.

I'm just happy Rob Schneider wasn't in it. 5 stars!

Tend to agree with you there. She was fantastic in the movie w/ Jason Bateman, "Identity Theft" as well as a couple others. She's got more range than quite a few female actresses. If you want a female Chris Farley, look no further than Rebel Wilson.
