Taking my son and his friends tonight. It's a joy to see how excited they are to see it. A friend of mine caught an earlier screening and says it wasn't as good as Raimi's first 2, but it's a very fun film.

Me either. I just don't want it to be as atrocious as Spider Man 3 or Amazing SpiderMan 2.

Saw it last night at a pre-screening. Had some funny parts but I hated it for the most part. A ton of super cringy bits in there. Has every single movie trope you can think of but with added cringe. Not even close to the first 2 with Maguire.

Forgot to add, this movie forces diversity several times. Its fricking stupid. Example: Flash is an Indian kid.

I agree with this short but sweet description.

I still enjoyed it for what it is. A movie where Spider Man came of age and fully understood what and who he is and what he wants to do. I really liked how it stuck to the basic character of Spider Man and his personality. As good as the Raimi movies were, they still did not have the fun and lighthearted personality that he's usually well known for. The villain was pretty good but he wasn't as hardcore evil as Vulture normally is. I wonder why he held back his identity with Scorpion?

My only complaints that the boss fight at the end was a little anti climatic at the end and wasn't even a real good fight. It's going to be a very long time before they can top the Doc Ock subway fight.

This is practically a baby Spider Man that doesn't even have full access to all of his abilities or even know how to use them whatsoever.

For example, he can't even swing like we normally see in Spider Man movies and he's practically a beginner even with the super tech suit Stark gave him. He has a long way to go before he knows how to swing like this. LINK

Also, he's not a very good brawler making use of his senses as he got his clock cleaned a few times by Vulture and his lackeys. Tony Stark should've made him stay upstate to get more training as he is sorely lacking in that area.

Also there was definitely a bit of forced diversity that was just so awkward and off putting. Flash Thompson is an indian who's a debate club nerd? GTFO. I'll scream bloody murder if they make MJ into an indian SJW instead of the preppy redhead babe she's supposed to be.

Well, they did. I totally got her mixed up with Liz because I thought Zendaya was supposed to be pretty.

I laughed at this. That was definitely a good idea.

Cap channeling his inner deadpool right there.

Also, I gotta say that Happy in this movie was a giant dickhead to Peter and his friend. Peter would've been well within his rights to tell him to go frick himself.

Just what the hell was Tony thinking making Happy watch over Peter with that attitude?

Tons of tongue-in-cheek parts I enjoyed. Right before they showed the ferris bueller scene on the TV it was running in my head already, I thought it was great. Also poking fun at the webs not being very useful outside of the city in the suburbs with nothing to swing from.
