Sony Releasing ‘Clean’ Versions of its Movies on Home Video

Screenrant
Whatever happened to not being allowed to watch certain movies until you got older, but you somehow found a way to do it anyway? All of these movies will be completely devoid of humor. I constantly say "Cheese and rice" sarcastically because they unnecessarily censored "Jesus Christ" in the TV version of Wedding Crashers. Some movies aren't meant to be watched with the entire family.

Sony will reportedly be issuing censored – or, rather, “clean” – versions of many of its most popular films on home video. In the past, companies like ClearPlay and VidAngel have seen fit to put together their own edited versions of theatrical releases without the explicit consent. Similarly, “clean” versions of PG-13 and R rated films have long held court on commercial airlines and broadcast TV as entertainment fit for the entire family.

For anyone who has tried to watch something like, say, a PG-13 Will Ferrell comedy a la Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby in censored form, the absence of crass, adult humor can be more than a little off-putting for those familiar with the original version. The very idea of watching Ferrell in his prime sans any lewd or obnoxious behavior is definitely not the movie experience that those involved in the making of the comedian’s most popular movie would ideally hope for. Nevertheless, it appears that Sony is intent on making “clean” versions of many of its more popular film releases readily available, in the future.

I'm really beginning to hate Sony as a studio. It's taken them since American Hustle to make a truly great film (and even that's debatable with Hustle) and that was back in 2013. It's taken them 4 fricking years with Baby Driver coming out soon to break that streak.
And I'm not going to give them credit for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" whether it be good or bad because Disney/Marvel took it out of their hands because they're so incompetent. And as the final shot in the balls, they are releasing what is almost certainly the worst idea ever for a movie next month: The Emoji Movie.

they've got to do something to make some extra money LINK

I got 2 ideas:
1) Make halfway decent movies
2) Stop making movies altogether

This does look like garbage. All of this nonsense reminds me of the mom with the petition to get a clean version of Deadpool which would've cost millions to make because her son was a Deadpool "fan." No he wasn't, he thought he looked cool in the preview and wanted to see it but he wasn't old enough. That would've ruined the entire movie. I'm glad they said no.

No wonder Seth Rogen looks like someone lit his string... Sausage Party would be like 5 minutes long if it were clean.

None of his movies would last. Even the two Neighbors movies, while being mostly new parent comedies, would be useless.

meh, who cares really. They already re-edit movies for television. I'm sure people will vote with their wallets anyway and this idea will be shelved in 6 months.
