The rumor I read was that Luthor uses Zod's DNA to create Doomsday, though we probably wouldn't see him until JL.

All kind of rumors of doomsday or Alex attempting to clone zod so I am guessing a mash up of both the clone is jacked up hence doomsday. The flippers are just prostetics for cgi probably.
